Ricky Clousing is a free man! Not only has he been released from the brig, but he has been discharged from the military, and can now continue his antiwar activism without interference.
Ricky first went AWOL after returning from Iraq, citing the horrors he had seen there. On his bed on base, he left the following quote by Martin Luther King, Jr.:
“Cowardice asks the question, ‘Is it safe?’ Expediency asks the question, ‘Is it politic?’ But conscience asks the question, ‘Is it right?’ And there comes a time when one must take a position that is neither safe, nor politic, nor popular but because conscience tells one it is right.”
On several occasions, he attempted to turn himself in for punishment and to be formally processed out of the military, but every time the military sent him away. It wasn’t until he went public, at a press conference at the Veterans For Peace convention in Seattle this August, that the military took notice. He turned himself later that day at nearby Fort Lewis.
In October, Clousing was sentenced to 90 days in the brig. His original release date was December 27th, which would have held him beyond Christmas. However, because of his treatment during his initial confinement at Fort Lewis, his lawyer was able to have that time counted as time served, which reduced his sentence by four days.
Ricky was reunited with his family at Sea-Tac Airport late last night. He is currently home with his family in Western Washington, and looking forward to resuming his antiwar work.

Peace by definition means a state of calm and quiet, why would we not want this? Are we not more happy when everything is just chill and people can go about their business? The latter understanding of peace can also pertain to an individual’s sense of himself or herself, as to be “at peace” with one’s self would indicate the same serenity, calm, and equilibrium within oneself. In order to achieve peace everywhere we have to start within ourselves.

Well I finally got myself a new PS3 and I bought Warhawk for it since it was on sale. I love the PS3 and playing blurays. The price has come down some so now is a perfect time to pick one up. A blu Ray player alone is almost 400$, you might as well get a PS3 and play video games also.

If you plan on moving anytime soon then you better stock up on cardboard boxes. It is so much easier if you buy in bulk before your move and do it all in one big run instead of finding a single box here or there. Buy boxes and move quick and properly with little to no effort. Check it out.

As I am getting a bit older I start thinking about what would happen if I died and what would happen to my family. I love reading all sorts of different kinds of books. Some people like to stick to one author or two, but I will read the back of books to see what looks interesting to me without even looking at the author’s name. If it sounds like something that I would like I buy it and read it. I enjoy reading, and I will never quit a book just because it is boring.

There are so many neat books out, but it could be hard to pick which one you want to pick up to read. I was checking out A New Earth, Awakening to Your Life’s Purpose because it was part of Oprah’s book club, it looks like a good one. I usually agree with Oprah when she says that a book is good, so I think that is going to be my next book purchase.
