Gas spilled into local creek

April 28, 2007 By: damdanger Category: Blog No Comments →

This is part of a local news broadcast in Flint, MI. I thought it was pretty messed up.

Emergency crews were on the scene of a gas spill Friday afternoon is Swartz Creek. It all began around 2 p.m. at the Admiral gas station at the corner of Miller Road and Second Street.

Fire officials say between 400 and 800 gallons spilled from a tanker truck that was refilling the underground tanks.

Much of the gasoline flowed down the street and into a nearby creek. HAZMAT crews were on scene cleaning up the spill.

Target the Prince

April 28, 2007 By: damdanger Category: Blog No Comments →

I read this article on CNN.com today and figured I would share it with everyone, just because it seems so messed up to me. The shiite are all wound up again and basically are out of control. They want to gun down the prince. Leave the little guy alone, his family has nothing to do with the war. You act like the royal family runs the UK.

LONDON, England (AP) — Shiite militants in Iraq claim to have set up a special squad to target Prince Harry if he is deployed there with his army regiment, The Guardian newspaper reported Saturday.

The newspaper quoted a commander in the Mahdi Army, the militia loyal to radical Shiite cleric Muqtada al-Sadr, as saying the group had informants inside British army bases who would tip them off about the prince’s presence.

“One of our aims is to capture Harry, we have people inside the British bases to inform us on when he will arrive,” the newspaper quoted commander Abu Mujtaba as saying.

The Guardian said it could not substantiate Abu Mujtaba’s claims and the British military dismissed them as propaganda.

Harry, 22, is a second lieutenant in the British army. His regiment, the Blues and Royals, is due to be deployed in Iraq in the next few weeks.

Royal officials announced earlier this year that the prince, who is third in line to the throne, would go with them. But this week military chiefs were reported to be reconsidering the deployment for fear Harry’s presence could endanger other soldiers.

The Ministry of Defense would say only that deployments are kept “under constant review.”

Abu Mujtaba told The Guardian that Harry would be a target not just for the Mahdi Army, “but every person who hates the British and the Americans will try to get him, all the mujahideen in Iraq, the al-Qaida, the Iranians all will try to get him.”

The government announced in February that it would begin withdrawing 1,600 of the 7,000 British troops in Iraq this summer as it hands over control of southern Iraq to local forces.

But the past few weeks have seen a surge in violence, with 11 British soldiers killed in Iraq this month. In all, 145 British troops have died there since the 2003 invasion.

I personally think that being an American is awesome.  It is too bad that a lot of countries look down on us because of our president.  Hey, not all of us voted for him!

A suicide bomber killed at least 58 people today when he blew up a car between two shrines in the Shiite holy city of Karbala, Iraqi police said. Scores more were hurt in the attack that apparently targeted worshippers heading to evening prayers. Meanwhile, anti-American cleric Muqtada al-Sadr castigated President Bush for keeping troops in Iraq.

Online Backup

April 27, 2007 By: damdanger Category: Blog No Comments →

Backing up your computer can never be a bad idea. Losing important things that you can not replace can be really devastating, like when I lost all of my photos a couple weeks ago. I had a lot of pictures from Florida, that I will never get to replace again. It is good to take the steps ahead of time to save all the things that you have on your computer before something unexpected happens!

When you are looking for an Online Backup service, you should definitely go for www.idrive.com! The backups are free (up to 2 GB) and it is a very safe and secure service. Back up your computer and all of your things that are not easy to replace with www.idrive.com!

Politics

April 27, 2007 By: damdanger Category: Blog No Comments →

A very good point was brought up to me the other day.  If we bring a lot of our troops home, they would just send more contractors over to Iraq, and lives will still be lost.  I had not really thought about this before, but it seems like it is really snakey for the gov’t to do this just because it will make them look better!

Pet Food Recalls

April 27, 2007 By: damdanger Category: Blog No Comments →

The pet food recalls were a huge surprise to every pet owner in America this year. I know personally being a dog and 2 cat owner, it definitely had me scared. When I called Pets Mart the other day for a grooming appointment for my dog the voice message said that if people were calling about the pet food recall to visit a website. The worry was so bad that pet stores had to add another option on their phone menu to cater to all of the pet owners that were concerned about their pets well being.

It really amazes me that so many pets were affected by this food. I feel really terrible for anyone who lost a pet to this mess. The question is though, where do you go for in depth information about the pet food recalls?

There is a comprehensive guide that was written about the dog food recall, and it is free for anyone, with no opt-in required. We know that our pets depend on us to take care of them, and when we do our best and feed them and the food is bad, it is just so awful!

My pets were thankfully not affected by these food recalls, but there are so many that were. Make sure you visit the guide if you have an animal in your house, or even if you know someone who does!

Senate Passes Timetable Bill

April 27, 2007 By: damdanger Category: Blog No Comments →

Finally, a decent attempt by congress to remedy the war! Though this resolution on the Iraq funding bill seems like a definite deadline and end to this terrible war, it will in all likelihood lead to a veto by Bush.

A defiant Democratic-controlled Senate passed legislation Thursday that would require the start of troop withdrawals from Iraq by Oct. 1, propelling Congress toward a historic veto showdown with President Bush on the war.

The 51-46 vote was largely along party lines, and like House passage of the same bill a day earlier, fell far short of the two-thirds margin needed to overturn the president’s threatened veto. Nevertheless, the legislation is the first binding challenge on the war that Democrats have managed to send to Bush since they reclaimed control of both houses of Congress in January.

“The president has failed in his mission to bring peace and stability to the people of Iraq,” said Sen. Robert Byrd, D-W.V., chairman of the Appropriations Committee. He later added: “It’s time to bring our troops home from Iraq.”

Cartoon Dolls

April 27, 2007 By: damdanger Category: Blog No Comments →

A really popular thing right now for teenagers and kids to play with is online dolls. You can dress them up however you want, and use them on websites and other things of that nature. They are really fun too, I have played with them a couple of times, to make signatures for my websites, or really just because they are really fun to play with.

Cartoon Doll Emporium has quickly become one of the most popular children’s websites in the world, with over 3 million “tween” visitors coming to the site each month. The site not only has the cartoon dolls, but they also have games and quizzes. It is a great site, so great in fact that the Disney Channel fans are gathering there.

Playing dress up games can be fun for any age, but the site is specifically geared towards girls between the ages of 6 and 16. I am 26 and I still have fun on the site!
